The new generation Volvo C40 was released in Malaysia, with a range of 550 kilometers and 200kW charging!

The 2024 Volvo C40 is launched in Malaysia. It is priced at RM288,888, but the electric range has been improved to 550 kilometers (previously 451 kilometers), and the charging rate has been increased to 200kW (previously 150kW).

The upgrades of Volvo C40 in Malaysia are summarized as follows:

• Longer cruising range of 550 kilometers (previously 451 kilometers)

• New rear-wheel drive-biased AWD power split (previously 50:50)

The upgraded Volvo C40 can travel up to 550 kilometers on a single charge with a larger 82kWh battery. The charging experience on long journeys has also been greatly improved as the C40 now supports a maximum DC charging rate of 200kW.

The faster DC charging rate allows the car to charge from 10% to 80% charge in 27 minutes. The C40's maximum AC charging rate is 11kW.

The C40's maximum power output is 300kW (408hp metric), but power distribution is now biased towards the rear wheels, as the more powerful rear motor outputs 183kW, while the smaller front motor outputs 117kW. Previously, the C40 utilized two electric motors with 150kW each at the front and rear.

As for the C40 single-motor version, which is not available in Malaysia, it has now been changed to a rear-wheel drive (RWD) configuration from the previous front-wheel drive (FWD) layout.

There are almost no changes to the appearance of the 2024 Volvo C40. The easiest way to distinguish it from the old model is the new 19-inch wheels, which adopt an asymmetrical appearance design. Volvo says this new design has better aerodynamics.

The C40 has added a new color option called Vapor Grey.
